The German filmmaker Christian Petzold is a true melodrama artist, a cultivator and connoisseur of the genre who is allowed to experiment with him as not many have done. Transit , however, is not – as some have claimed – a totally experimental film but one that plays with a temporary castling that resignifies all the time seen. Is that Transit is a film based on a 1942 novel about the Nazi occupation in , although it is told as if it happened today. But it is not a complete update. The novel remains the same (there are fascists occupying ), but there are no Gestapo cars or helmets but ordinary policemen, modern and cellular taxis
